The website is managed by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (AMI) - a government cultural institution. One of AMI's missions is to promote Polish culture throughout the world, in particular by compiling and updating an integrated system of information about Polish culture.

The PMC is a research and information center devoted to gathering and disseminating knowledge about all aspects of Polish music. The PMC is associated with the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, headed by Dean Larry Livingston.

The Centre has been in operation since November 2001 in Polish Composers’ Union. Our aim is to collect and make available information on Polish music and musical life, with a focus on Polish contemporary music.
