MP loses against Losers and Goblins' candidate
2006-11-14, 17:30
The two minor government coalition parties, the League of Polish Families and the Self-Defence, failed to pass the 5% election threshold and will not have their representatives in majority of local and provincial councils.

The most striking failure was the election of the mayor of Warsaw. Wojciech Wierzejski MP for the League of Polish Families managed to secure the support of 0,35% while Marek Czarnecki from the Self-Defence got 0,15%.

In both cases it is less than 0,42% support won by well-known performance artist Waldemar "Major" Frydrych who represented the Losers and Red-hooded Goblins' Election Committee.

The mayor will be elected in the second round scheduled for November 25th – the two candidates are the ex-PM Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz with over 38% and ex-president of the central bank Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz with over 34% support.
