The Polish Requiem by Krzysztof Penderecki is inaugurating the 14th Musica Antiqua Europae Orientalis festival in Bydgoszcz, mid-northern Poland.

It will be performed by the Orchestra and Choir of the Pomeranian Pilharmonic under Wojciech Michniewski. This year's event is held under the motto "Religious Music In The Meeting Roads Of Various Traditions".

The organizers aim at showing common roots of musical traditions through presentations of works from various musical periods as well as countries of Europe and the world. The Musica Antiqua Europae Orientalis festival will last till September 29th with a series of 13 concerts held the Philharmonic Hall’s stages and several churches in Bydgoszcz.
