Runways repairs begin today at Warsaw Chopin Airport. Due to difficulties caused by reparations, most flights are cancelled and some part was moved to other airports, like Poznań.
A shortened runway, intended only for smaller aircrafts, taking about 50 people onboard, will be the only runway used during the next three weekends of September in Warsaw.
Every airport must be repaired every 20-30 years in order to meet international standards.Warsaw runways will have new, bituminous surface.
Most flights were cancelled, the rest was moved to £ód¼, Katowice, Kraków, Gdańsk, Rzeszów and Poznań. Airport authorities assure, thet repairs should not surprise passengers, as carriers were informed about that fact year ago. But any passenger suffering financial loss because of a cancelled flight can demand his compensation.
